My name is Kari Hughes-Wint. I began my journey in photography during my four year stint living in Wiesbaden, Germany. My family and I were fortunate enough to travel to some of the most beautiful places in the world...Paris, Madrid, Rome, Dublin, Prague, London...just to name a few. Initially, my photos consisted of my three children standing in front of the typical touristy landmarks. But it wasn't long before I was noticing the hidden treasures that can easily go unnoticed. The arch in a lamp post, the faces in sunflowers, the beauty of a simple cobblestone street...and suddenly it was clear, I was meant to take pictures.
Having been a stay-at-home mother of three beautiful children for 12 years, I've spent much time seeing the beauty of the face of a child. The lips, the beauty mark, the curve of the ear, the hair, the smile, the pout...the mysterious blend of features of two adults that make up the unmistakable masterpiece of a child's face. It's my goal to capture that in a photograph for you. But I have found that my experience of being a mother, continuously aids me in seeing the personalities that can be caught in a photo. I particularly love taking candid photographs of families with their children.
For Family Photos:
I now have a home based studio with three different backdrops, white fabric, black fabric, and a green screen. My home atmosphere is very comfortable and relaxed.
I use natural light in all of my outdoor shots. Outdoor sessions are ideal for catching the kids at play! And I find that children are much happier being photographed while they play as opposed to a stuffy studio with blaringly bright lights. In your session, I will travel to your familiar venue (your home, park, or where ever you'd like). I take a few minutes to allow the children to become comfortable with the surroundings (and comfortable with me) while I simply observe them to get an idea of any particular habits or interestingly cute quirks that I can capture! I listen to the parents, ask them questions about the child, (Tell me about him/her...What are his/her interests? What would YOU most like to see in your photos? etc..) Then, when it's clear that everyone is happy, comfortable, and ready for some fun... I start shooting! I realize that children can be unpredictable as to the length of the session, but I'm flexible! When there's no hurry, there's no pressure!
Pricing:
A photo session is $150, which includes all of the photos I will take that day as well as 25-30 digitally enhanced photos which I will give you on either a disc or a memory card. Driving time is only included for distances of 20 miles or more.
